The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has announced the availability of the Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin (BLBW) grant program for 2020. DATCP encourages Wisconsin farmers and businesses seeking to grow their local markets to apply by noon, February 28, 2020.
DATCP states that the BLBW grant program is designed to strengthen Wisconsin’s agricultural and food industries by working to reduce the marketing, distribution, and processing hurdles that impede the expansion of sales of Wisconsin’s food products to local purchasers.
A total of $200,000 is available for 2020. The maximum award for each project is $50,000, and grant applicants must provide a cash or in-kind match of at least 50% of the total project budget. Generally, qualified applicants include individuals, groups or businesses involved in Wisconsin production agriculture, food processing, food distribution, food warehousing, retail food establishments or agricultural tourism operations.
Each proposal must include a cover page, a completed budget template and project description. Additional information is available online at https://datcp.wi.gov/Pages/BuyLocalBuyWisconsinGrants.aspx. or by contacting DATCP Grants Specialist Juli Speck at email@example.com or 608−224−5134.
