Moratorium Proposed on Issuance of New Alcohol Licenses

Mayor Soglin has proposed a moratorium on issuance of new alcohol licenses, including expansion of existing licensed areas in a high density, high police call area in downtown Madison.” A map of the specific area is available here. The full text of the proposal is here.

The moratorium does not apply to licenses issued to a hotel or other lodging house if subject to approval of the Madison Alcohol License Review Committee and the Common Council or to new licenses issued in connection with the sale of a business with an existing license.
