You’ve Got to “Fear the Deer,” or is it “Fear the Stag”?

After a win over the San Antonio Spurs earlier this week, and their first win over the Spurs since 2012, the Milwaukee Bucks are developing a target on their backs as a 2017 NBA playoff contender. Fear the Deer! But another party not often associated with the NBA also has the Bucks in its sights.

Mast-Jägermeister SE, purveyor of the JÄGERMEISTER brand, has recently taken exception to a new Bucks logo. A representation of a Jägermeister logo and the new Bucks logo follows.

To add insult to injury, Jägermeister even takes a cheap shot,” so to speak, by making the following allegation: likelihood of damage to Jägermeister’s goodwill is enhanced by the fact that prospective consumers who are dissatisfied with the quality of the [Buck’s] goods will attribute those defects to” Jägermeister. All right, now that’s unsportsmanlike!

The Buck’s mascot, Bango the Buck, has been around for decades, and has been known to survive many situations. Here’s to hoping that luck continues!
