Job Overview

Boardman Clark seeks an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for carrying out administrative services and providing support to the intellectual property team. The ideal candidate for this position has a keen attention to detail, a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills and comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.

Practice Area: Intellectual Property

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys; this includes but is not limited to tracking deadlines and projects, performing basic research, entering timekeepers’ time. 
  • Administratively support the filing and prosecution of patents, trademarks, copyrights and provide litigation support. 
  • Open files, organize and maintain filings. 
  • Prepare and file basic legal documents and correspondence.
  • Answer and direct phone calls for existing and potential clients. 
  • Serve as backup to other legal assistants throughout the Firm. Perform other tasks as assigned, including sharing in additional administrative duties. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. 
  • Previous experience as a legal assistant is preferred. 
  • Strong skills in word processing and computer use; proficiency in MS Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat. 
  • High attention to detail and sensitivity to confidential materials.
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate needed tasks to complete projects.
  • Able and willing to learn new electronic programs.
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
