Boardman Clark offers a benefit package which includes Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401k with profit sharing, Firm paid Life, Short-Term, and Long-Term Disability Insurance, subsidized parking, and various other benefit programs. This position offers a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week) after completing your first 3 months of employment.
Pay Range: Starts at $26 per hour, commensurate with experience

Job Overview
Boardman Clark seeks a Legal Assistant to work in our Family Law Practice Group. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for carrying out administrative services and providing support to firm litigators and transactional attorneys. Our most successful Legal Assistants demonstrate skills in organization and planning, attention to details, communication, professional acumen to work in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace, and exceptional problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting Marital Agreements and Pleadings.
- Provide administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectiveness.
- Type, proofread, and edit correspondence, memoranda, agreements and other legal and business documents from notes, templates, drafts, or dictated text under time sensitive deadlines.
- Open new client matters and initiate conflict checks.
- Manage communication with clients, witnesses, etc.
- Monitor deadlines and manage multiple calendars; set appointments and meetings.
- Ensure documents and correspondence are filed correctly.
- Open files and organize and maintain filings (including electronic filing) and files.
- Assist timekeepers with tracking deadlines and organizing projects.
- Perform general research for timekeepers.
- Answer and direct phone calls; maintain contact lists.
- Serve as back-up to other assistants.
- Perform other tasks as assigned, including sharing in additional administrative duties.
Qualifications
- Proven working experience as legal assistant or legal secretary is preferred.
- High School Diploma is required. Associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Working knowledge of legal billing and document management software.
- The ability to organize, communicate, and prioritize multiple attorney needs throughout the day.
- Strong computer literacy skills; this position requires you to work proficiently on a computer most of the day.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit and/or stand at a desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
