Job Overview
Boardman Clark is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have five to seven years of extensive experience in labor and employment law, demonstrating a thorough understanding of legal principles and the ability to support private and public sector employers. The role demands keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Help clients navigate the complicated intersection of FMLA, ADA and other leave laws.
- Draft and review executive compensation agreements including noncompete or other restrictive covenants.
- Advise clients on labor and employment laws, including workplace safety, wage and hour laws, discrimination, and wrongful termination.
- Represent clients in court, arbitration, and before government agencies in matters related to employment disputes.
- Draft, review, and update employment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Assist in resolving labor disputes through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
- Ensure that businesses comply with all applicable labor laws and regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to human resources and management on labor and employment issues.
- Conduct internal investigations into complaints of workplace misconduct or violations of labor laws.
- Participate in or advise on collective bargaining negotiations.
- Prepare and file legal documents such as lawsuits, appeals, contracts, and agreements.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and explaining legal strategies and outcomes.
Attorney Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active and in good standing with the state bar association.
- Five to seven years of experience practicing labor and employment law.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other legal professionals and support staff.
