Boardman & Clark LLP Welcomes Barry Blonien

Boardman & Clark LLP recently announced that attorney Barry Blonien has joined the firm.  Barry joins the firm as a proven litigator and will work primarily with the firm’s Litigation, and Franchise and Dealership Groups.

In his practice, Barry works in all stages of litigation, from case analysis before filing a complaint, to all the way through trial and, if necessary, an appeal. He has worked on complex litigation matters involving constitutional law, civil rights, environmental justice, consumer rights, antitrust, false claims, class actions and collective actions, administrative law, and intellectual property.

Federal Court Strikes Down 2024 Salary Level Rules

In April 2024, the Department of Labor issued rules (“2024 Rules”) that increased the salary level that had to be paid to executive, administrative, or professional employees so that the employees were not entitled to overtime pay under the FLSA. The 2024 Rules did not change the primary duties tests, nor did they change the salary basis test. On Friday, November 15, 2024, a federal court in Texas struck down the entirety of the 2024 Rules and ruled his decision applied nationwide.
