Common Misconceptions in Estate Planning
October 30, 2026
New estate planning clients and seasoned planners alike often make assumptions about estate planning, such as what planning tools are best for them or how their assets will ultimately be distributed. These assumptions sometimes miss the full picture of what estate planning actually does. Estate plans are not one-size-fits-all and each requires careful considerations for what will--or will not--work for each person and their family.
In this seminar, we will explore commonly misunderstood fundamentals that can compromise an estate plan’s effectiveness. We will discuss misconceptions about keeping property in the family, the capabilities and limits of powers of attorney, the roles of different types of trusts, and planning for difficult issues such as mental health, dependency, and conflict.
