Intellectual Property Paralegal

Job Overview

Our busy law firm is currently seeking an experienced Paralegal for our Intellectual Property practice group. The successful candidate will provide assistance to attorneys and clients in daily operations of intellectual property. This individual would have the ability to work independently and within a team setting, and meet frequent deadlines with minimal supervision.


  • Assist with preparation of documents/letters and edit the following documents for filing: New patent, trademark and copyright applications; patent and trademark amendments/responses/other documents
  • Electronic filing of patent and trademark documents with USPTO
  • Conduct trademark clearance searches
  • Create, manage and maintain client files
  • Interact professionally and promptly with clients, foreign associates and internal parties by reporting incoming USPTO actions and responding to questions as necessary
  • Maintain IP docketing database, including reviewing and extracting information from incoming communications
  • Track intellectual property matter deadlines
  • Verify and docket filings and other patent prosecution processes
  • Coordinate and communicate with attorneys and paralegals to ensure dockets are current and accurate


  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Associate Degree required
  • Skills: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Maintain professional and courteous demeanor with those internal and external to our firm; Possess excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, strong attention to detail, and independent problem-solving skills; Possess excellent written and oral communication skills; Demonstrate proficient and accurate word-processing skill; Exhibit proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

  • Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
